ipoque Net Reporter is a centralized statistics collection, storage and analysis
system collecting
data from PRX Traffic Managers deployed across the network and providing applicationand
subscriber-level network visibility. Near-real-time traffic statistics facilitate operational
network monitoring and troubleshooting, and long-term reports enable historical trend analysis
and capacity planning. The Web-based graphical user interface provides seamless views
across all timescales and comprehensive drill-down capabilities from entire network links to
individual applications and subscribers.
Highlights
- IP service monitoring
- Application and subscriber usage statistics
- Seamless near-real-time & long-term network monitoring
- Customizable direct-view and e-mail reports
- Drill-down from entire network links to individual subscribers
Deployment of Net Reporter and PRX Traffic Manager
Solution Overview
PRX Traffic Manager generates a large amount
of fine-grained traffic statistics from its deep
packet inspection (
DPI) engine. Net Reporter
collects, aggregates and stores these data and
presents them via its Web-based graphical
user interface. It complements and extends
the statistics capabilities of the PRX Traffic
Manager's integrated graphical user interface.
Net Reporter comes as a fully pre-installed and
pre-configured server appliance, that starts
collecting data immediately after entering the
management interface IP address of each PRX
Traffic Manager. It provides access control for
its graphical user interface with integrated user
rights and role management.
Network & Subscriber Visibility
Net Reporter presents resource usage in bits and packets per
second and per traffic direction. It displays bandwidth consumption
for network users and applications over the selected
time period ranging from a few minutes to an entire year.
For a
set of PRX Traffic Managers, which collect raw data at various
locations in an operator's network, these values are reported
for each system individually and aggregated across all. Statistics
are available for each layer-7 protocol and application
supported by ipoque's award-winning
DPI engine and aggregated
for each operator-defined policy class.
- Individual and aggregated device statistics
- Policy class statistics
- Protocol statistics
- Subscriber statistics
- Top-talker statistics for subscribers,protocols and devices
- Modular, easy-to-extend structure
Real-Time & Long-Term Monitoring
All collected statistical data are display graphically and
numerically at timescales from near-real-time to long-term using
a seamless zoom navigation across the entire time range. The
highest resolution of data points is one minute for device, policy
class and protocol statistics and five minutes for subscriber
statistics.
Along with drill-down capabilities from entire network
links to individual network users, it provides comprehensive
application- and subscriber-aware network visibility. Details
about aggregation intervals and their resolution can be found
in the table on the right.
- Seamless zoom across all timescales
- One-minute data resolution for near-real-time monitoring
- One year data storage

Statistics & Reporting Interface
After logging in to Net Reporter's Web-based graphical user
interface, a configurable dashboard provides a quick overview
of the most important network resource usage statistics. From
this bird's-eye view it is possible to drill down all the way to
the application-specific bandwidth consumption of individual
network users by only a few mouse clicks. Each graphical or
tabular statistics view can easily be added to the dashboard
by a click of a button. Similarly, each view can also be defined
as part of a customized report, which can be accessed directly
from the user interface or automatically distributed via e-mail at
scheduled time intervals.
- Graphical and tabular statistics display
- Graphical report building interface
- Configurable line, bar and pie charts
- Configurable dashboard
- Unlimited custom reports for direct view or scheduled e-mail distribution in PDF format
- Raw data SOAP Webservice interface
